Scholarships

PURPOSE
TO REWARD ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND TALENT OF MASTERS LEVEL STUDENTS NATIONWIDE BY PROVIDING NEEDS-BASED GRANTS TO HELP MEET THE EXPENSE OF A VOCAL ARTS EDUCATION FROM AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY OR PERFORMING ARTS INSTITUTION.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Arts from an accredited university or performing arts institution
  • Scholarship awards are $1,500.00 per recipient
  • Scholarships are awarded for tuition and are paid directly to the school
  • Scholarships are available to full-time students, pursuing a Masters degree in Vocal Arts

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant must be a Masters student enrolling for at least 8 credit hours per quarter or semester
  • Applicants must demonstrate a high level of financial need, academic achievement, and talent as scholarships will be awarded on a strictly competitive basis
  • Applicants must submit, via regular mail, a fully completed Vocal Arts Scholarship Application plus the required information below by the specified deadline of April 30th to be considered for a scholarship for the upcoming academic year

APPLICATIONS

  • Applications will be available September 1st for the following year
  • Applications will be accepted beginning January 1st for the academic year: 2007-08
  • Application deadline is APRIL 30th*
  • Applications are reviewed each summer by the SOS Scholarship committee
  • Applicants will be notified by mail of the Committee's decision by August 31st

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Applications will be available September 1st for the following year

  • Fully completed Vocal Arts Scholarship Application
  • Most recent high school and college transcript including GPA
  • Two Recommendation Forms: 1 Advisor and 1 Performing Arts recommendation from the Dean or music department professor
  • Personal/Professional Resume or Bio
    Music Sample (CD or MP3 preferred)
  • Since the purpose of the Fund is to assist persons who might otherwise not be in a financial position to attend college, applicants shall submit the following information to determine financial need (all information will be kept confidential):
    • Complete copy of yours (if not a dependent) or your parents' latest tax return(s) with all forms and schedules (or other party who has custody or claims applicant as a dependent)
    • If applicable, a statement describing other financial support (child support and obligations to defray educational expenses

Application Deadline: APRIL 30th. Applications and all supporting documents will NOT be accepted after this deadline. No extensions will be made and failure to provide all materials will result in automatic disqualification. Written explanations must be provided for any information not available.
